The
Métro is the Underground Railway in Paris. Métro
is short for "Métropolitain" which means that this is a train serving
the central city area.
Nowhere
in Paris is further than 400 metres from a Métro station. It is a very
cheap and quick way to travel around a busy city.
The
Métro is actually both underground and above ground. At times it runs
on viaducts high above the city streets, as it does here near the Métro station of Glacière.
